What started as a whim and a dare 29 years ago as part of a small corner of 172 Maplewood Avenue, it now occupies the entire retail space. Offering unique affordable items is the mission of Kokoro which translates to “heart and spirit” in Japanese. Known for household items, pottery, gifts and accessories with an Asian aesthetic, Kokoro also offers an array of jigsaw puzzles, windchimes and multicultural children’s books. Kokoro supports local artisans showcasing their one-of-a-kind handcrafts; over the years, Kokoro has sold items lovingly made by children and professionals alike. Kokoro aspires to provide “gifts from the heart” to customers who represent all ages and diverse backgrounds, and ultimately wishes everyone a heartfelt shopping experience!
